Vienna calling

Die vierten Klassen vor dem Palmenhaus

After a peaceful train ride all 4th grade classes arrived at Vienna main station at 18:03. and went to the hostel. To get through the city we took the U1 subway or tram which run through a big part of the city and many important places such as the Ringstraße.

That spared us a lot of walking. A few of us decided to wave to the bypassing cars out of boredom- and some car drivers waved back! We don’t agree with the statement that “people in Vienna are rude”. Throughout the week we visited the parliament, the UN building, Vienna airport, various art museums and the natural history museum. On the first and second day we had two puzzle rallies which required a lot of walking. We saw St. Stephan’s cathedral, the Karlskirche, the national library, the Augarten porcelain manufacture and many more important and interesting places, but our highlights were the West Side Story and The Phantom of the Opera musicals as well as the Prater. The West Side Story left us with catchy melodies we caught ourselves humming even days after. As for the Prater… let’s just say it drained a lot of wallets. But it was worth it. We had a great time riding countless rollercoasters and the big ferrus wheel is, after all, one of the main attractions of our Austrian capital. We’ll always remember our great week in Vienna.
